The Shweater - Mecashon DK Gradient Kit

About the Pattern:

The question: What if a shawl were actually practical to wear all day, and stylish too?

The answer: It would be a Shweater!

Shweater is a quick knit constructed just like a basic shawl - with one unique twist that changes everything. It’s worked back and forth in rows using only k, p, and kfb, so it’s suitable even for relatively new knitters. With simple raglan-style shaping and sleeves it wears just like a sweater, but the shawl-inspired construction makes it almost magically easy to get a perfect fit from a completely flat fabric. What makes the Shweater truly special is the technique used to create the sleeves - it’s deceptively simple, especially with the help of a video tutorial included with the pattern.

The best part is wearing it, though - it’s the kind of sweater your friends will want to steal and you’ll want to wear all day!

The pattern includes detailed written instructions for sizes XS-4/5XL, plus instructions for how to further customize the fit for a variety of heights, sizes, and desired fits.  The sample shown is knit in the Purple-Throated Carib colorway.

About the kit:
These kits contains Mecashon DK in Gradient cakes (and solid-colored Coordinates in some sizes) in the following amounts:

XS/S: Two Jumbo skeins and a Coordinate
M: Three Jumbo skeins
L: Two 2XL skeins and a Coordinate
XL: Two 2XL skeins and a Coordinate
2XL: Two 3XL skeins and a Coordinate
3XL: Three 2XL skeins
4/5XL: Three 2XL skeins and a Coordinate

You will alternate Gradient skeins as you work the pattern (alternating between all 3 skeins in M, 3XL, and 4/5XL sizes) to achieve one large Gradient. If ordering a size that includes a Coordinate, PLEASE NOTE which end you would like the Coordinate to match during checkout (the color can match either end of the Gradient but not a middle section).

Please note that the pattern gives alternatives for the quantities above: e.g. using 2 XL Gradients instead of 2 Jumbo Gradients and a Coordinate for the XS/S size.  For this kit we have gone with the least expensive option in each size.  We have also limited the color selection to some of our most popular colors, so that our webhost didn't explode from too many amazing choices. You can easily put together your own kit with Mecashon DK or Plush DK in our regular Gradient - Shop by Yarn section and Gradient Coordinate section.)

This kit includes the yarn to make the pattern, but does not include the pattern itself - the pattern is available on Ravelry here. Ravelry ensures you will always have access to your pattern even if your copy is lost, and you will automatically receive any pattern updates in your email!

About the yarn:

80% superwash merino / 10% cashmere / 10% nylon, 3-ply
12 oz (340 g)/ 840 yds (768 m)

This luxurious MCN packs all the yumminess of ultra-soft merino and cashmere, with great wear and a squishy hand.  Mecashon is ideal for next to skin projects like scarves, shawls, and sweaters.  It's a versatile yarn suitable for any type of stitch pattern, and it's even soft enough for baby items!

Hand wash cold, lay flat to dry.

Please note: as much as possible, colors are shown on Mecashon DK. Otherwise, colors are shown on a 100% superwash merino yarn and are accurate representations of how the color will appear on Mecashon DK.
